Our goal at Carey is to maximize your child’s educational experience and we are always looking for ways to improve student focus, academic success digital citizenship and personal safety. Therefore, at Carey:

LCSD #1 Weapons Policy:
All students are reminded that the possession of any weapon on any school district property is a violation of school board policy. Any student having a weapon in their possession on school property or at school functions, including in lockers or cars parked on school property, will be subject to suspension or expulsion up to one school year.
A weapon is a firearm, knife (regardless of the length of the blade), baton, club, explosive material, substance, or any instrument that is capable of producing death, serious bodily injury, or serious threat of injury (i.e., airsoft guns).
I acknowledge that I have read and understand the above statement and policies. I also agree not to possess any weapon on school property or at school functions.
Students: we have seen an increase in students refusing to comply with school policies when asked. Below is a problem-solving model that we ask you use when visiting with any adult regarding any policy violation at Carey Junior High.
How to Follow Directions/ Respond to any Adult
Step 1: Look at the person who is addressing you. It indicates you are listening.
Step 2: Say, “OK.” It indicates that you heard and understand the direction.
Step 3: Just do it. Do what is asked without hesitation or argument. “HONOR the ask”??
Step 4: Check back. After you do what you were asked to do, if you don’t understand why you had to do what you did, in a respectful way ask for clarification.
