Dress Code

Carey Dress Code

We should take pride in our appearance and believe they way people dress has an impact on their behavior and their quality of work. The way you dress reflects the kind of person you are. It is generally accepted that cleanliness, good grooming, and appropriate dress help to reduce distraction, promote health, and prepares you for a working environment.

A student’s dress and grooming are the responsibility of both the student and his/her parents or guardians.

Our goal is to keep productive and safe without overly restricting personal expression.

  • The four B’s must be covered at all times:

  • Backs, Bellies, Bottoms, and Breasts

  • Head coverings need to be removed upon entering the building.

  • Undergarments must be covered at all times.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times.

  • Clothing may not display any form of profanity, sexual content, alcohol, drugs or demean any ethnicity, race, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

  • Clothing denoting gang affiliation is unacceptable.

  • Bandanas may not be worn or displayed.

  • Pajamas are not appropriate for school.

  • Any item that is deemed inappropriate and creates a distraction and is not addressed in the dress code policy may be a violation.

If a student is uncertain about his/her dress, he/she should not wear it. If you must ask- don’t wear it.

Resolution process for dress code violation:

  1. A student who is not in compliance with the dress code will be asked to correct the dress code violation.

  1. If he/she is not able or willing to correct the violation, a parent will be called to bring appropriate clothes for school.

  1. If the student continues to refuse to correct the violation, the district discipline matrix will be implemented.
